We are thrilled to say we've reached a huge milestone in 2024 by reaching our 50th year in business!
Started by Jimmy Martin in 1974, with a small depot in Glasgow, a van bought cheaply after another company rejected it and a handful of equipment, we've grown to have multiple depots covering the central belt of Scotland - and servicing customers the length and breadth of the UK. In that time we've remained a family business, with Jimmy's son Andy now taking the mantle of Managing Director.
That we are a family owned and operated company flows through all our business practice and we see all our staff and customers as members of the Martin Plant Hire family. As you always want the best for your family, we want the best for ours - which is probably why we retain the majority of our staff rather than having a high turnover (our longest serving members of staff will be featuring on the blog soon, sharing their insight into the industry) and why we're still in business 50 years on, competing with national companies for accounts and customers, because we always go the extra mile to deliver our great service.
